TING! A notification pops up on the screen of your mobile phone and you drop everything you’re doing just to get a glimpse of it. It could range from a WhatsApp message, an Instagram announcement or a snapchat story update. It could be important or unnecessary. It could be urgent or it could wait. Nevertheless, we remain eager to check out what it is.
IMPORTANCE OF SOCIAL MEDIA: As opposing as it sounds, certain uses of social media are quite beneficial. Information is right at our fingertips, and we usually do not need thick encyclopedias for any reference. It makes communication easier and quicker and provides us with a wide platform of choices when contacting a person. |
THE NOT SO GREAT EFFECTS OF IT: We take it for granted. Simply put, our relationships, whether personal or professional, are at the stake of one emoji or an autocorrecting mistake. One comment or like button. One wish for either birthdays or special occasions. We often forget that the opposite person cannot see our expression and might take offence of a simple text that we meant as a joke. We are so occupied in our handheld devices that we fail to delegate enough quality time to our family

BUT MAINLY SOCIAL MEDIA IS BLAMED WHY?!
We do understand,
It does have a certain amount of distracting capacity, but it is the mere mortals who misuse this powerful tool. It creates the future, but WE darkens it at the same time It creates new relationships, but WE spill water over the older ones It strengthens friendships, but WE weaken family time It earns a name for itself, but WE destroy it if WE use it for a longer period of time. HOWEVER, it is not us, it is not social media, but both of us combined together under unfavorable circumstances that create all the hassle. Voice YOUR Opinion, What do you feel? |
